Standards, regulations

Recently, the nation has made steady efforts to improve the education system to produce more green talent and stepped up efforts to publish standards for the new professions to regulate career development in the process of fulfilling the carbon peak and neutrality goals.

For example, in July, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security started canvassing public opinion for a draft of professional standards for carbon emissions managers, which should provide a clear definition of the job and its evaluation standards.

Moreover, in April, the Ministry of Education released an action plan to encourage the education of talented people in fields such as new energy, energy storage, hydrogen energy and carbon capture, which will encourage universities and colleges to update majors such as transportation and materials.

Under the guideline, universities will be helped to establish carbon neutrality colleges to explore a range of new methods to develop green talent. For example, Zhejiang A&F University set up a carbon neutrality college in October that offers majors on carbon sinks and environmental sciences. Talented individuals with knowledge of carbon monitoring, trading and use will be produced through systematic education, it said.
