Tracing roots of pandas in Sichuan Baoxing
With an altitude of 2,000 to 3,500 meters, Baoxing county in Ya'an city of Sichuan province is located at the transition zone between the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and the Chengdu Plain. Its mild climate and misty forests provide an excellent habitat for the giant panda, red panda, golden monkey, takin, Chinese monal and numerous other wildlife.
The Frenchman Armand David first saw this new black and white species, the panda, in 1869 in Dengchigou of Baoxing. From then on, these pandas hiding in the mountains became visible to human civilization.
Baoxing is the place with the most chance of encountering pandas in the wild. Follow the video to trace the roots of the giant panda in Baoxing!
