SOEs bring clean water to overseas cities
While Mauritania is a Saharan nation, Nouakchott is a low-lying city on the Atlantic Ocean and requires a proper drainage system, resident Muhammad Issa said.
Prior to completion of the project in November 2018, "stagnant water was common, and its stench reached all the way to people's homes", he said. Issa said the project resolved the problem and improved the well-being of locals.
CREC4's water projects are not confined to Africa.
In Mongolia, a new central sewage treatment plant is being built in the capital, Ulan Bator, by CREC4 First Engineering. Completion is set for August 2023.
The modern plant, able to treat 250,000 cubic meters of sewage each day, will benefit 45 percent of the nation's residents, according to Chen Hong, the CREC4 project manager.
In Costa Rica, a CREC4-built urban water supply plant that benefits residents in Canas and Bebedero was handed over to local operators on March 24. The project's construction began in April 2019.
"Its advanced equipment and technology help provide high-quality water," said Francisco Alberto Mendoza Mata, a Costa Rican engineer.
