Medical and community-service workers fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic on the front-line and their families were invited to join an online charity activity to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival on Saturday.

The event, held by the China Soong Ching Ling Science and Cultural Center for Young People, invited more than 100 families to follow teachers from the center to delve into traditional customs of the festival, such as making zongzi (sticky rice dumplings), stuffing a pillow with Chinese mugwort leaves and making scented sachets.

Wang Yanjing, a community worker in Beijing's Haidian district who has been working to curb the new surge of the pandemic in the city, said that the event helped to relieve their stress and teach children about the charms of our traditional festivals.
