Organizational excellence
Take the National Indoor Stadium, which is hosting the para ice hockey tournament, as an example. As soon as the ice hockey final for the Winter Olympics was finished late last month, the organizers began the transition work for the Paralympics, starting with increasing the thickness of the ice to accommodate the equipments of the para ice hockey players.
The venue also lowered the height of the plexiglass safety barriers so the players, who are usually seated, could take part in interviews more conveniently.
"The National Indoor Stadium is the only venue of the Winter Paralympics that offers laundry services to the players, for their jerseys, towels and training outfits. As of Wednesday night, we had cleaned 11,964 items," said Lei Ming, executive deputy director of the National Indoor Stadium operations team.
According to Lei, the venue provides assistance teams for venue guidance and to resolve any problems para athletes might have.
