2022 Zodiac Flashmob kicks off
The 2022 "Zodiac Flashmob" kicked off online on March 3.
The flashmob, sponsored by the Beijing Bureau of Culture and Tourism and organized by the Beijing Overseas Cultural Exchanges Center, aims to convey the unique features of the Chinese zodiac to audiences in China and the world through innovative diverse means. The event has been held offline in many parts of the world, including the United States, Britain, Finland and Denmark since its launch in 2016. This year, it is held online due to COVID-19.
2022 is the Year of the Tiger, and the 24th Winter Olympic and Paralympics Games are being held in Beijing. Titled Vigorous like Tigers: Together for a Shared Future, this year's flashmob will feature Beijing's landmarks to convey the meaning of the tiger in traditional Chinese culture, while incorporating elements of the tiger into winter sports. ?The flashmob will show Beijing as a vibrant modern city to the world and one that is open, fashionable and inclusive.
Zhang Jingjing, a dancer featured in the flashmob, said: "There were many people on site who danced Together for a Shared Futurewith us with a lot of passion. As the Winter Paralympics is about to open, I wish everyone a prosperous Year of the Tiger as we join hands for a shared future."
