Online reality show puts celebrities in the grassroots
An online reality show that follows celebrities experiencing different jobs at the grassroots level was recently aired on Tencent's video-streaming platform.
In the first episode, violinist and actress Ouyang Nana and singer-songwriter Wang Sulong were invited to travel to Nanning, capital of South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and play the role of motorcycle riders who buzz around the city all day long to help urban residents perform all kinds of errands, including buying vegetables, picking up packages, washing air conditioners and taking care of young kids.
They also help locals to walk their dogs as well as buy daily necessities, and even help a young man prepare for a proposal to his girlfriend. They also get to know some of their co-workers, including a single mother who works hard to bring up two children and a delivery man who writes lyric poems to express his reflections on life.
"I feel I'm so close to the real life during these days. I've visited various communities across the city and have gotten to notice many touching moments I would have missed," Wang said.
