Belarus harvests 3.3m tonnes of grain

MINSK, 2 August (BelTA) – Some 3.3 million tonnes of grain have been harvested in Belarus, BelTA learned from the press service of the Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of 2 August, 1,044,200 hectares of grain and leguminous crops (excluding corn, buckwheat, millet) were harvested, or almost 48.7% of the target.

All in all, 3,391,000 tonnes of grain were threshed. In the lead is Minsk Oblast with 806,400 tonnes. Brest Oblast harvested 781,000 tonnes, Grodno Oblast 499,700 tonnes, Vitebsk Oblast 439,000 tonnes, Mogilev Oblast 434,500 tonnes and Gomel Oblast 430,400.

The second hay cutting was completed on 736,500 hectares (90.7% of the plan). A total of 799,000 tonnes of hay (71.5% of the target) has been harvested so far, as well as 11.574 million tonnes of haylage (85.7%) and 331,500 tonnes of silage (1.71%). All in all, 3.724 million tonnes of grass fodder was procured.
