Shanghai beats Guangdong 3-1 in Chinese Women's Volleyball League
JIANGMEN, China -- Shanghai pocketed its eighth win this season after beating Guangdong 3-1 to place second in the Chinese Women's Volleyball League here on Monday.
After a brief lead, Guangdong failed to stop Shanghai's strong attack on the net and lost the first set 25-21. The second set saw a similar case that Shanghai won by 25-22.
Guangdong regrouped to take the third 25-21 and fought out a 24-all in the fourth set, before Shanghai scored two more points to close it by 26-24.
Tianjin swept Beijing 3-0 (25-12, 25-21, 25-14) when Wang Yizhu and Zhu Ting got 18 and 15 points respectively for Tianjin, and Ren Kaiyi led Beijing with 17 points.
In Monday's other actions, Shandong defeated Hebei 3-0 (25-11, 25-16, 25-12), Fujian lost to Henan 3-2 (25-23, 16-25, 25-15, 19-25, 15-10) and Sichuan edged off Yunnan 3-2 (22-25, 21-25, 25-15, 25-23, 15-9).
