Drama set in 5th century China tops online views ranking
"The Song of Glory", a web drama set in the Liu Song Dynasty (420-479), one of the Southern Dynasties (420-589), was China's most-viewed TV drama online during the past three days, showed figures available Monday.
Available online starting from July 1, it was the most-viewed Chinese TV drama from Friday through Sunday, with more than 50 million daily views, according to Maoyan, an online platform that provides film and TV drama data and compiles the rankings.
Starring Li Qin as Shen Lige, a heroine, and Qin Hao as Liu Yikang, the emperor's brother who later becomes prime minister, the show tells the story of the pair working together to bring peace to their crumbling nation where powerful aristocrats are clamoring for power.
Qin Hao has become an internet sensation for starring in "The Bad Kids," a critically acclaimed web drama, which, released last month, currently boasts a score of 8.9 points out of 10 based on more than half a million reviews on review platform Douban.
