Sequel to high-rated ‘Tientsin Mystic’ drama set for July release
"Tientsin Mystic 2," a sequel to the high-rated 2017 mystery web drama "Tientsin Mystic" is set for release on Chinese online platforms on July 6, according to a Tuesday announcement via the series' social media account.
Set in North China's port city of Tianjin during the first half of the 20th century, the story revolves around a policeman who solves crimes using special skills he learned from his teacher known as "Old River God."
"Tientsin Mystic," ranked fourth on the 2017 rating chart for web dramas on the Chinese mainland, with a current score of 8.2 points out of 10 on review platform Douban.
The dramas are adapted from a suspense novel series authored by Zhang Muye under the pseudonym Tian Xia Ba Chang.
Another novel series by Zhang, "Gui Chui Deng," which literally translates to "Ghost Blowing Lamp," has also been adapted into films and TV shows.
