New window of opportunity for disadvantaged children
The Beida Jade Bird Culture and Education Group will support China Youth Development Foundation to launch a cooperative project to help impoverished children and juveniles get education opportunity, said the group's chairwoman Xue Li on Nov 25.
Xue said thanks to the favorable policies implemented by the government in recent years, the technical and vocational education and training as well as the holistic education in China have developed rapidly. The group is willing to follow the trends and fulfill its social responsibility to set up a well-rounded diversified education system for all ages.
Gu Zhengzheng, a representative from CYDF, said the Project Hope initiated by the foundation has raised more than 15 billion yuan ($2.13 billion) to set up over 20,000 primary schools and sponsor nearly six million students over the past three decades. The foundation is looking forward to make joint efforts with the Beida Jade Bird Culture and Education Group and run these charity projects in a more sustainable way.
According to Xue, the group will continue to collaborate with enterprises, schools, universities and government bodies to bring its training sessions to a larger group of people. Currently, it has been working to provide reemployment training to demobilized soldiers.
