Eye experts educate students on nearsightedness
Engage in more outdoor activities
Outdoor activities are critical to the prevention of nearsightedness. Children need to engage in more physical activities outdoors for at least two hours each day.
Practice good reading habits
Nearsightedness is linked with bad reading habits. You need to read in a well-lit environment, rest your eyes by looking away and focus on objects far in the distance every 40 minutes, and do eye exercises on a daily basis. In addition, you need to adopt a good reading posture. For example, reading materials should be at least 30 centimeters away from the eyes, and you should not read, write or use electronic devices when you walk, eat, lie on the bed or stay under the sun.
Reduce screen time
The long amount of time spent on mobile phones, computers and TV sets is one of the main causes of nearsightedness. As a result, you should focus on objects far in the distance for 10 minutes after using electronic devices for 30-40 minutes. If you use the devices for entertainment rather than learning, limit screen time to 15 minutes each instance.
Those diagnosed with nearsightedness need to wear glasses and receive medical examinations on a regular basis to prevent the progression of myopia. They have to listen to the advice of their doctors in deciding on options for vision correction, and those wearing glasses must develop good reading habits and receive medical examinations every six months.
