Get into the Spirit
The stunning Spirit of Christmas light installation takes London – and Hong Kong – by storm
Want to see capital Christmas lights but don't want to travel from Hong Kong to London to experience them? No problem. In a glamorous first, Hongkongers can see the festivity of London's Regent Street as the historic address has collaborated with Hong Kong's Lee Tung Avenue in Wan Chai to create a special version of the widely loved event. The Avenue is offering five representative lightings of Regent Street's, in true London style.
Created by British lighting company James Glancy Design in partnership with the Crown Estate, the Spirit of Christmas lighting installation offers London visitors a chance to see a breathtaking installation as they shop and dine on Regent Street – the first location in central London to have Christmas lights, with the tradition starting in 1854. This year's lights are a modern reinterpretation of Regent Street's first installation, which featured traditional angels positioned as if playing trumpets. Meanwhile, back on the winter wonderland of Lee Tung Avenue, performances such as Christmas parades and themed programmes will last until the end of the Yuletide season.
