European Culture Street festival showcases European food, music, culture
The Delegation of the European Union to China celebrated the richness and diversity of European culture through European Culture Street, a festival featuring all 28 Member States of the European Union at The Place, Beijing. This is the second street festival in the "Experience Europe" programme by the Delegation, aiming to bring unique, diverse, fun, and authentic European experiences to visitors at the heart of Beijing.
The one-day cultural event officially opened on Sept 22 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by the newly appointed EU Ambassador to China Nicolas Chapuis. Throughout the day, booths operated by the 28 EU Member States and the Delegation showcased Europe's unique heritage, vibrant educational and tourism opportunities, and distinctive charms.
Visitors tasted Europe through many authentic European products on display, such as Finnish soda, Bulgarian rose wine and honey, and Slovenian wine. Musicians and performers brought the richness of Europe's heritage to the eyes and ears of the Beijing audience with live bands from Germany; dancing Smurfs from Belgium; a children's play from Poland; Greek dancers; and songs from Hungary and Portugal.
