Xi's Boao speech receives warm applause
More confidence in Belt, Road with Xi's remarks, says Norman Sze
President Xi Jinping's remarks on the Belt and Road Initiative at the Boao Forum will boost confidence in the initiative's role in creating more collaboration among countries and regions as well as contributing to more balanced and sustainable global growth, said Norman Sze, northern region managing partner of Deloitte China.
"The Belt and Road Initiative is evolving and we have seen good results and successful stories come out of it in terms of boosting infrastructure building, manufacturing capability and economic development," Sze said.
President Xi said in his keynote speech at the Boao Forum that the initiative may be China's idea but its opportunities and outcomes are going to benefit the world.
Sze said that Xi's remarks will enhance confidence in the Chinese government's commitment to the initiative and the desire to develop it into an inclusive platform for all.
"We see the role of China is to promote the Belt and Road Initiative as everyone's platform. It is about inclusiveness rather than one country's dominance," Sze said.
"We also see the why globalization is so important at the moment and the value of the Belt and Road Initiative amid rising protectionism," he added.
