Forum of frieze A to Z of Contemporary Art

Date: Sept 2 - 1 pm

Venue: Ullens Center for Contemporary Art, Beijing

Price: Free

Contemporary art possesses a modern spirit and language. However, it reflects not only "modernity" but also a "contemporaneity" that is informed by the artists' social experiences. When artists place themselves in contemporary cultural contexts and face reality, their artworks naturally reflect characteristics of the time. Boundless Books has collaborated with British publishing company Phaidon to co-publish the first black book of world contemporary art: frieze A to Z of Contemporary Art. From Avant-garde to Zeigeist, keywords like history, poetry, fashion, film, nature, and love specifically interpret the background of contemporary art and the ultimate questions they pursue. They also describe the leading figures of contemporary art and finally form the prevailing trends. In partnership wih Boundless Books, the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art (UCCA) invites poet and translator Wang Jiaxin, artist Liu Wei, artist Xiang Jing, scholar Wang Minan, curator Siyuan Chinnery, and founder of "Yihao Reading" Yang Hao to discuss the various aspects of contemporary art and life, from medium, image, sound, and language, to the future, contemporary creation, and philosophy as narrative.
