A group of workers install solar power panels at a 40-hectare (400,000 square meters) photovoltaic generator site in Linqun county in East China's Anhui province on Saturday, the first day of the three-day Labor’s Day holiday. The site lies along a river in the county’s Lvzhai township and represents a total investment of more than 200 million yuan ($29 million). Expected to be put into operation before the end of June, the project is one of the major measures taken by the local government to tackle rural poverty, as each of the 800 local poverty-stricken households will get an annual subsidy of 3,000 yuan from the investor.
